Detailed Itinerary: Komodo Kelimutu Tour (5D/4N Tour)
Day 1. Labuan Bajo – Kelor Island – Manjarite – Kalong Island (Lunch/Dinner)
Your Komodo Kelimutu adventure begins with a convenient pick-up at your hotel or the airport in Labuan Bajo. From there, we transfer to the harbor, where a traditional wooden boat awaits to carry you across the sparkling waters of Komodo National Park.
Our first destination is Kelor Island, where a short trek to the hilltop rewards you with a breathtaking panorama of turquoise waters, rugged coastlines, and scattered islets stretching to the horizon.
Back on board, we continue to Manjarite (also known as Menjerite), a world-class snorkeling spot where crystal-clear waters reveal a vibrant underwater world. Slip beneath the surface and discover a kaleidoscope of coral gardens teeming with colorful reef fish, graceful sea turtles, and perhaps even a passing manta ray. Whether you’re an experienced snorkeler or a first-timer, the beauty beneath these waters will leave you spellbound.
As the afternoon begins to mellow, we set course for Kalong Island, famous for its spectacular evening ritual. As the sun begins to dip toward the horizon, thousands of fruit bats emerge from the mangrove trees, soaring across the fiery sky in a mesmerizing dance of silhouettes against the sunset. It’s a natural spectacle that has captivated travelers for generations—and one that will stay with you long after the night falls.
Throughout the day, a delicious lunch and dinner will be served on board. Tonight, your accommodation is on the boat—a unique and authentic experience, lulled to sleep by the gentle rocking of the waves.
Overnight on the boat.
Day 2. Padar Island – Pink Beach – Komodo Island (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Wake up to the soft golden light filtering through the cabin windows and enjoy a hearty breakfast on board as the boat glides across the calm morning waters.
Our first destination today is Padar Island for a morning trek to the summit—a perfect opportunity to capture the sunrise and the spectacular panorama that has made this island famous. The view from the top is nothing short of breathtaking, with the surrounding islands and turquoise waters stretching endlessly before you.
We then sail to Pink Beach, one of Komodo’s most treasured gems. Its blush-colored sands, created by microscopic red coral fragments, create a striking contrast with the azure sea. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to snorkel in vibrant underwater gardens, where colorful coral formations and schools of tropical fish create a living masterpiece beneath the surface.
As the afternoon unfolds, we make our way to Komodo Island, the namesake of the national park and the original habitat of the legendary Komodo dragon. Accompanied by an experienced ranger, you’ll trek through the island’s diverse landscape, searching for these ancient reptiles in their natural environment. Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of their behavior, ecology, and the conservation efforts that protect them.
Throughout the day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served on board. Tonight, you’ll once again sleep under the stars, cradled by the gentle rhythm of the sea.
Overnight on the boat.
Day 3. Taka Makassar – Manta Point – Siaba Island (Turtle Point) – Labuan Bajo (Breakfast/Lunch)
Enjoy your final breakfast on board as the boat glides across the calm morning waters, carrying you toward one last day of underwater wonder.
Our first destination is Taka Makassar, a stunning sandbar that emerges from the turquoise waters like a floating paradise. Here, you can wade through shallow, crystal-clear water, relax on the pristine sand, and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding seascape—a perfect spot for photography and quiet reflection.
Next, we visit Manta Point, a world-renowned snorkeling site where the majestic manta rays often glide through the crystal-clear waters. While sightings are never guaranteed—depending largely on weather and season—the thrill of possibility is palpable as you slip beneath the surface. If you’re lucky, you’ll witness these gentle giants soaring through the water in their natural habitat.
Our final stop is Siaba Island, affectionately known as “Turtle Point” —a tranquil spot where the waters are often visited by graceful sea turtles. Snorkeling here feels like swimming in an aquarium: turtles gliding effortlessly, schools of colorful fish darting through coral, and the serene beauty of an untouched underwater world surrounding you.
As the afternoon begins to mellow, we set course back to Labuan Bajo, the vibrant coastal town that marks the end of your boat expedition. Upon arrival at the harbor, you’ll be transferred to your chosen hotel, where you can rest and prepare for tomorrow’s journey to the heart of Flores.
Overnight at your chosen hotel in Labuan Bajo.
Day 4. Labuan Bajo – Flight to Ende – Moni Village (Breakfast)
After breakfast at your hotel, we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Ende, the gateway to the mystical highlands of Flores. Upon arrival, our team will greet you and escort you on a scenic drive toward Moni Village, your base for the Kelimutu sunrise experience.
The journey itself is a visual treat, with several stops along the way to capture the beauty of Flores’ landscapes—lush hills, traditional houses, and the everyday life of local communities. We’ll also visit Wologai Traditional Village, home to the Lio tribe, where you’ll explore distinctive traditional houses and learn about the customs, rituals, and way of life that have been preserved for generations.
As the afternoon light softens, we arrive in Moni Village, a peaceful settlement cradled by rolling hills and cool mountain breezes. After checking in to your chosen accommodation, you’ll have time to unwind, explore the village at your own pace, and prepare for the adventure that awaits at dawn.
Overnight at your chosen accommodation in Moni Village.
Day 5. Moni Village – Kelimutu Lake – Ende or Maumere (Breakfast)
Wake before dawn—around 4:00 AM—and prepare for the highlight of your Flores journey: a visit to the mystical Kelimutu Three-Colored Lake. A 30-minute drive from Moni brings you to the parking area, followed by a gentle 30-minute walk along paved steps to the summit.
As the first rays of light break over the horizon, the three crater lakes reveal themselves in all their glory—each pool glowing in a distinct hue.
These lakes, formed by volcanic eruptions hundreds of years ago, are a natural phenomenon that shifts in color over time due to chemical reactions and dissolved minerals. Surrounded by panoramic views of rolling hills and distant volcanoes, this is a moment of pure magic—one that words can scarcely capture. If the weather is clear, the sunrise adds an extra layer of awe to this already extraordinary sight. After soaking in the beauty, we make our way back down to the parking area and return to your hotel in Moni for a well-deserved breakfast.
After breakfast, we continue our journey to Ende or Maumere, where you’ll be dropped off at your chosen accommodation or the airport for your next destination.
Your Komodo Kelimutu tour ends here—but the memories of dragons, oceans, and volcanic wonders will stay with you forever.
Note: This tour can also be arranged in reverse—starting from Ende or Maumere and ending in Labuan Bajo—with the same itinerary. Simply let us know your preference.
