This concept has become increasingly popular among modern travelers, especially for those traveling alone (solo travelers), as a couple, or in small groups. Why? Because an open trip offers the perfect balance between adventure, cost efficiency, and the opportunity to meet new people from all around the world.

At Top Komodo Tours, we understand that every traveler has different needs and preferences. That is why we offer both options: sharing trip and private trip. So you can choose the experience that best suits your travel style.

We recommend you to take an early morning flight to Labuan Bajo, because the tour will be started at 10.00 AM, local time and the pick up schedule is started from 09.00 AM. Or to make your trip going smoothly and no rush, we recommend you to stay at the hotel in Labuan bajo the day before the tour is started.

Advantages of Sharing Trip to Komodo

1. More Budget Friendly

This is the most compelling reason to choose a sharing trip. By sharing the boat with other participants, the costs of boat rental, fuel, crew, and tour guide are divided equally. As a result, you receive the same high-quality experience at a significantly more affordable price compared to a private trip.

For our 3-day tour, the sharing system works as follows: You will share the boat, crew, and tour guide with other travelers. The price you pay depends on the type of cabin you select. We offer three cabin categories to suit different needs and budgets:

Master Cabin: The largest and most comfortable option

Superior Cabin: A balanced choice between comfort and value

Sharing Cabin: The most budget-friendly option, shared with fellow travelers

You are welcome to choose the cabin that best fits your preferences and budget.

For solo travelers or young couples on a tighter budget, an open trip remains the best way to experience the beauty of Komodo without overspending.

2. Opportunity to make new friends

One of the magical things about traveling is meeting new people. On an open trip boat, you will share space with travelers from different backgrounds; different countries and different stories.

Eating together on deck, sharing photos from the top of Padar, laughing together while snorkeling, or simply chatting under the stars. These are often the most cherished memories of a journey.

3. Perfect for solo traveler

Traveling alone is fun, but it can feel a little lonely or even awkward when joining a tour dominated by families or couples. An open trip to Komodo that we offer is actually the perfect environment for solo travelers. You will join a group of people who are also seeking connection and adventure. Many of our guests arrive alone and leave with new friends.

4. Still Accompanied by Professional Guides

Even though you are sharing the boat with others, you will still be accompanied by a professional, experienced tour guide. The quality of your experience will not be diminished. You will still enjoy the same trekking, snorkel at the same spots, and receive the same complete information.

Disadvantages of Sharing Trip to Komodo

1. Less Flexible Schedule

On an open trip, the departure schedule is fixed. You cannot ask the boat to leave later because you want a longer breakfast. You also cannot ask to stay longer at one spot because you are enjoying it too much. You must follow the schedule as it is applies to all tour participants. The boat departs according to the schedule, out of respect for the other participants who also have limited time.

2. Need to Adapt to the Group

In open trips to Komodo, you will be with more people with different background; different country and different stories. Everyone has a different pace and travel style. Some people like to trek quickly and take photos. Some prefer to linger at the summit and enjoy the view. Some are very enthusiastic about snorkeling, while others prefer to relax on the boat. You must be ready to respect each other and compromise. This is part of the group experience.

3. Less Privacy

This might be the most important factor for some people. On an open trip boat, your space is limited. You share the deck, share the dining area,  and possibly even share the bathroom. If you are the type of person who highly values privacy and tranquility, a private trip might be more suitable for you.

Sharing trips and Private trips to Komodo; Which One is the Best Option?

There is no right answer for the options. Both sharing trips and private trips have their own advantages and disadvantages. What matters most is understanding your own travel style, your budget, and what you hope to gain from your Komodo adventure. if you are still unsure, our team is ready to help. You will stand on the summit of Padar Island. You will snorkel in turquoise waters.
