Detailed Itinerary: Flores Komdoo Tour (5-Day Tour)
Day 1. Ende or Maumere – Moni Village: A Scenic Journey into the Highlands
Your adventure begins with a warm welcome at your hotel or the airport in either Ende or Maumere, the eastern gateways to Flores. From there, we set off on a scenic drive toward the charming highland village of Moni, nestled at the foot of Mount Kelimutu.
But this is no ordinary transfer—every mile of the journey is punctuated with beauty. We’ll pause at several picture-perfect viewpoints, where you can step out, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and capture stunning photos of Flores’ lush landscapes unfolding before you.
As the afternoon light softens, we arrive in Moni Village, a peaceful settlement cradled by rolling hills and cool mountain breezes. After checking in to your chosen hotel, you’ll have time to unwind, explore the village at your own pace, and prepare for the adventure that awaits at dawn.
Overnight at your chosen hotel in Moni Village.
Day 2. Moni Village – Kelimutu Lake – Bajawa: Sunrise Over the Colored Lakes
Wake before dawn and prepare for a morning that will linger in your memory forever. An early drive takes you up the slopes of Mount Kelimutu, where a gentle trek along a paved path leads you to the summit—just in time to witness the sunrise.
As the first rays of light break over the horizon, the three-colored crater lakes reveal themselves in all their glory—each pool glowing in a distinct hue, shifting between turquoise, emerald, and deep burgundy depending on the light and season. Surrounded by panoramic views of rolling hills and distant volcanoes, this is a moment of pure magic—one that words can scarcely capture. After soaking in the beauty, we make our way back down to the parking area and return to your hotel in Moni for a well-deserved breakfast.
Refreshed and energized, we continue our journey westward toward Bajawa, with enriching stops along the way:
- Wologai Traditional Village – Explore the distinctive houses and customs of the Lio tribe.
- Blue Stone Beach – A stunning coastal stop near Ende, where blue-hued pebbles meet the turquoise sea.
As the afternoon unfolds, we arrive in Bajawa and check in to your accommodation. Later, if you wish, we’ll visit the So’a Hot Spring, where you can soak in warm, mineral-rich waters and let the day’s adventures melt away.
Overnight at your chosen hotel in Bajawa.
Day 3. Bajawa – Bena Village – Aimere Village – Ruteng: Ancient Villages and Highland Charms
After breakfast, we begin our day with a visit to the iconic Bena Traditional Village—one of Flores’ most well-preserved megalithic sites. Here, you’ll walk among ancient stone structures, admire the distinctive cone-roofed houses, and learn about the spiritual beliefs and social structures of the Ngada people.
Continuing our journey toward Ruteng, we make a fascinating stop at Aimere Village on the south coast. Here, you’ll witness the traditional process of making local alcohol from palm juice—a craft passed down through generations. You’ll see the tapping, fermentation, and distillation process, and even have the chance to taste the final product.
Next, we visit the serene Rana Mese Lake, a natural crater lake surrounded by lush hills—a perfect spot for reflection and photography.
Arriving in Ruteng, we check in to your chosen hotel for the night, surrounded by the cool mountain air and the anticipation of tomorrow’s adventures.
Overnight at your chosen hotel in Ruteng.
Day 4. Ruteng – Labuan Bajo – Kelor Island – Padar Island (Lunch/Dinner): Spider-Web Rice Fields, Island Trekking, and Sunset Panorama
Enjoy your final breakfast on Flores’ highlands before we depart for the coastal town of Labuan Bajo, the gateway to Komodo National Park. Along the way, we’ll make a memorable stop at Cancar Village to witness the Lodok—spectacular spider-web rice fields that fan out across the hillsides in mesmerizing geometric patterns, a testament to the ingenuity of the Manggarai people.
Upon arrival in Labuan Bajo, we transfer to the harbor, where a traditional wooden boat awaits to carry you into the legendary waters of Komodo National Park.
Our first destination is Kelor Island, a small but stunning island with a trail that rewards the effort it asks. A short trek to the hilltop rewards you with a breathtaking panorama of turquoise waters, rugged coastlines, and scattered islets stretching to the horizon—a photographer’s dream and a moment of pure awe.
Back on board, we continue our journey toward Padar Island, where an afternoon trek to the summit rewards you with one of the most iconic landscapes in all of Indonesia—three distinct bays with water in shades of turquoise and blue, framed by rugged hills and untouched coastline. If time permits, we’ll arrive in time to witness the breathtaking sunset panorama from the top.
Throughout the day, a delicious lunch and dinner will be served on board. Tonight, your accommodation is on the boat—a unique and authentic experience, lulled to sleep by the gentle rocking of the waves.
Overnight on the boat.
Day 5. Komodo Island – Pink Beach – Taka Makassar – Manta Point – Labuan Bajo (Breakfast/Lunch): Dragons, Pink Sands, and Manta Rays
Wake up to the soft golden light filtering through the cabin windows and enjoy a hearty breakfast on board as the boat glides across the calm morning waters.
Our first destination today is Komodo Island, the namesake of the national park and the original habitat of the legendary Komodo dragon. Accompanied by an experienced ranger, you’ll trek through the island’s diverse landscape, searching for these ancient reptiles in their natural environment. Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of their behavior, ecology, and the conservation efforts that protect them.
Next, we sail to Pink Beach, one of Komodo’s most treasured gems. Its blush-colored sands, created by microscopic red coral fragments, create a striking contrast with the azure sea. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to snorkel in vibrant underwater gardens, where colorful coral formations and schools of tropical fish create a living masterpiece beneath the surface.
We then continue to Taka Makassar, a stunning sandbar that emerges from the turquoise waters like a floating paradise. Here, you can wade through shallow, crystal-clear water, relax on the pristine sand, and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding seascape—a perfect spot for photography and quiet reflection.
Finally, we visit Manta Point, a world-renowned snorkeling site where the majestic manta rays often glide through the crystal-clear waters. While sightings are never guaranteed—depending largely on weather and season—the thrill of possibility is palpable as you slip beneath the surface. If you’re lucky, you’ll witness these gentle giants soaring through the water in their natural habitat.
As the afternoon begins to mellow, we set course back to Labuan Bajo, the vibrant coastal town that marks the end of your Flores Komodo adventure. Upon arrival at the harbor, you’ll be transferred to your chosen hotel, where you can relax and reflect on the extraordinary journey you’ve just completed.
Your Flores Komodo tour ends here—but the memories will last a lifetime.
