Day 2. Moni – Ende – Bajawa (Approx. 170 km · 6.5 hours driving)
Wake before dawn for the highlight of your Flores journey—a visit to the mystical Kelimutu Volcano. A drive from Moni brings you to the parking area, followed by a gentle 45-minute walk to the summit. Here, you’ll witness the world-famous three-colored crater lakes—a natural phenomenon of shifting turquoise, emerald, and deep burgundy waters that have captivated travelers for generations. As the sunrise paints the lakes in ever-changing hues, you’ll understand why this place is considered one of Indonesia’s most extraordinary sights.
After soaking in the magic, we return to Moni for a well-deserved breakfast. Then, we continue our journey westward toward Bajawa, with enriching stops along the way:
- Wologai Traditional Village – Explore the distinctive houses and customs of the Lio tribe.
- Blue Stone Beach – A stunning coastal stop near Ende, where blue-hued pebbles meet the turquoise sea.
As the afternoon unfolds, we arrive in Bajawa and check in to your accommodation. Later, we’ll visit the So’a Hot Spring, where you can soak in warm, mineral-rich waters and let the day’s adventures melt away.
Overnight at your chosen accommodation in Bajawa.
Day 3. Bajawa – Aimere – Ruteng (Approx. 135 km · 5 hours driving)
After breakfast, we begin our day with a visit to the iconic Bena Traditional Village—one of Flores’ most well-preserved megalithic sites. Here, you’ll walk among ancient stone structures, admire the distinctive cone-roofed houses, and learn about the spiritual beliefs and social structures of the Ngada people.
Continuing our journey toward Ruteng, we make a fascinating stop at Aimere Village on the south coast. Here, you’ll witness the traditional process of making Moke/Arack Flores, a local alcoholic drink from palm juice—a craft passed down through generations. You’ll see the tapping, fermentation, and distillation process, and even have the chance to taste the final product.
Next, we visit the serene Rana Mese Lake, a natural crater lake surrounded by lush hills—a perfect spot for reflection and photography.
Arriving in Ruteng, we check in to your chosen accommodation for the night.
Overnight at your chosen accommodation in Ruteng.
Day 4. Ruteng – Wae Rebo (Approx. 70 km to Denge · 3.5 hours driving)
Enjoy an early breakfast at your accommodation before we depart for one of Flores’ most extraordinary destinations—the legendary Wae Rebo Traditional Village. Along the way, we’ll make a memorable stop at Cancar Village to witness the Lodok—spectacular spider-web rice fields that fan out across the hillsides in mesmerizing geometric patterns, a testament to the ingenuity of the Manggarai people.
Continuing our journey, we arrive at Denge Village, the trailhead for the trek to Wae Rebo. From here, we embark on a 3-hour trek through dense, verdant jungle, following a winding trail that climbs steadily into the misty highlands. The forest is alive with the sounds of exotic birds and the rustle of leaves in the mountain breeze—each step drawing you closer to a world that time seems to have forgotten.
And then, emerging from the clouds like a vision from another era, Wae Rebo reveals itself—a cluster of iconic cone-shaped houses, known as Mbaru Niang, set against a sweeping valley backdrop. This is not just a village; it is a living cultural treasure, one of the last remaining places on Earth where ancestral architecture and way of life are preserved in their purest form.
Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed by the community, and your accommodation for the night will be prepared—a humble yet authentic stay in one of the traditional houses. As the sun sets over the valley and the stars begin to emerge in dazzling clarity, you’ll share a simple dinner with your hosts, listening to stories and songs that have been passed down through generations.
Overnight in one of the traditional houses in Wae Rebo Village.
Day 5. Wae Rebo – Denge Village – Labuan Bajo (Approx. 90 km from Denge · 5 hours driving)
Wake up to the soft golden light filtering through the misty valleys of Wae Rebo—one last morning in this enchanting village perched high above the clouds. After a simple breakfast shared with your host family, take some time to soak in the magic of this extraordinary place one final time.
Wander through the village, interact with the local community, and learn more about their way of life and unique culture. Whether it’s observing their daily routines, hearing stories of their ancestors, or simply sharing smiles across generations, these moments of connection are what make Wae Rebo so unforgettable.
When the time comes to say goodbye, you’ll begin your descent along the same jungle trail that brought you here. The walk back to Denge Village takes approximately 3 hours, but the journey feels different this time—lighter, more reflective. The forest that once felt mysterious now feels familiar, and each step carries the quiet satisfaction of having experienced something truly rare and beautiful.
Upon reaching Denge, we continue our drive toward Labuan Bajo, the vibrant coastal town that marks the end of your Flores Land Tour. The landscape transforms before your eyes, from lush highlands to rolling savannahs, and eventually to the sparkling blue waters of the Flores Sea. Along the way, we’ll pause at several scenic spots for photo opportunities.
As you arrive in Labuan Bajo, you’ll be transferred to your chosen accommodation, your heart full of the memories and stories gathered along this remarkable journey across Flores.
Your Flores Land Tour ends here—but the spirit of the island will stay with you forever.
