Trekking to Egon Volcano (1-Day) – Conquer the Fire Mountain of Maumere

Your adventure begins with an early breakfast at your hotel—or a convenient breakfast box to take with you—before we depart by car for the trekking starting point near Blidit Village. The scenic 45-minute drive builds anticipation as we wind through coastal landscapes toward the foot of the volcano.

Upon arrival, your trek begins. The ascent to the summit takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, depending on your pace and how often you pause to catch your breath—or simply to soak in the ever-expanding views. The trail is categorized as medium difficulty, requiring a good level of fitness and proper trekking skills, but every step is rewarded with increasingly spectacular scenery.

Reaching the summit is a moment of pure triumph. From the top, you’ll be greeted by a spectacular panoramic view of Maumere, the shimmering Flores Sea, and the rolling hills that stretch across the island. At the crater’s edge, you’ll witness thick white smoke rising from the volcano’s heart, carrying the unmistakable scent of sulphur—a powerful reminder of the living, breathing force beneath your feet.

After soaking in the majesty of Egon, we begin our descent along the same trail, retracing our steps back to the starting point. Our vehicle awaits to transfer you back to your hotel in Maumere, where a warm shower and a comfortable rest await.
