Padar Island in Komodo National Park

Padar Island has become one of the most iconic and photographed destinations in all of Indonesia. Located within Komodo National Park between Komodo Island and Rinca Island, Padar is famous for its extraordinary panoramic views — three dramatically different bays visible from a single hilltop vantage point, each with differently colored sand.
The Famous Viewpoint
The hike to the top of Padar Island's main ridge takes approximately 20–45 minutes, depending on fitness level. The trail is moderately steep with some rocky sections. At the summit, visitors are rewarded with one of the most spectacular panoramas in Southeast Asia: three bays curve below — one with white sand, one with pink sand, and one with black volcanic sand. The scenery is breathtaking at any time of day, but especially magical at sunrise.
Sunrise Trek
The most popular way to experience Padar Island is the sunrise trek, departing from an anchored boat at around 04:30–05:00 AM. As the first light illuminates the dramatic landscape, the view from the top becomes truly unforgettable. This is included in our multi-day boat tours such as the 3D Komodo Dragon Tour.
Wildlife on Padar Island
Unlike Komodo and Rinca islands, Komodo dragons are no longer found on Padar Island — the local deer population that sustained them was depleted by hunters, causing the dragons to disappear. However, the island is rich in bird life and marine biodiversity in its surrounding waters.
